Mediocre vs. Quality

As I drank a free cappuccino today at the bank (while waiting for our friends Jeff and Dave from Milwaukee to exchange their dollars into euros), I wondered, "Is having a mediocre cappuccino for free better than paying $4 for a good one at Starbucks?" Which would you chose?
