It's being reported that Prop. 8 in CA will most likely pass due to a high number of minority voters - specifically the result African American Women's views on gay marriage. So, because of Obama's heavy push for an increase in voters in this block, we lost the fight for equality in CA.

But if we look at the glass as half full and not empty, the percentage of CA voters who oppose gay marriage dropped from 61% in in 2000 to 53% in 2008. So, maybe in another four to eight years we can try again.
