The Evolution of Boystown
Last night was the first night I officially went out in Chicago since moving back four weeks ago. And what I saw surprised me. As we entered Mini-Bar, not only were there girl go-go dancers gyrating alongside the wall, the crowd was very mixed - straight and gay.
Not that I care. But it's amazing to me how much boystown in Chicago has changed in just under under four years. The straights don't mind mixing with the gays. In fact, I have a feeling the straight men like to be given the attention - as long as their arms are interlocked with their girlfriends. If anything, it sure adds a different vibe to the room. I suppose in a few years the term "boystown" will seem so yesterday. In fact, it probably already is.
