Pink Trash Travels

Me and Kristine!

When our friend Todd said he was visiting from LA for Chicago Market Days, he mentioned getting the gang together for dinner Saturday night. I thought it originally sounded like a good idea. That was until my friend Tom reminded me that Kristine W was performing at 7:00. So, I quickly cancelled. After all, how often to I get to see an artist who has had more consecutive number one dance singles than Madonna? Besides that, Kristine holds a special place in my heart as her Land of the Living and One More Try were big singles when Chris and I started dating in 1996.

So at 6:30, I made my way to the Addison Main Stage to watch her perform. Many asked if she lip synced. Crazy enough, she didn't which goes to show how talented she really is. Sure, she hasn't broken through to any mainstream pop level (some within the gay community don't even know who she is), but she's been a consistent performer for almost 15 years.

After the show, I made my way to the VIP area (a busted idea the organizers tried this year to generate more revenue). I wanted to buy Kristine's CD as I think it's important to support dance artists when you can. Before I left with The Power in hand, my friend Tom snapped a photo of Kristine and I. It may not be the best as hair and make-up, as well as lighting, wasn't available, but that's okay. I'll make sure I do a little "photoshopping" before passing the picture along to Todd for a consolation prize.
