Hidden Gem: Melissa Tkautz

Sometimes true dance pop gets lost in the shuffle. Case in point is Melissa Tkautz and her song Easily Affected. Recorded and released in Australia in 2006, the song peaked at only #86. As a result, the record label didn't push the song too hard elsewhere. Not that American radio would have latched onto the track. They've got their head stuck so far up R & B/Hip Hop's butt I have a feeling dance music, or any other pop besides the Disney brand, will never see the light of day. But, that doesn't stop you from enjoying the tune via YouTube! Check it out below.



As for Melissa, she's trying to make a comback with Nick Skitz and his song I Want Your Love. The track is heavy euro trance so not my favorite, but it's good to know at least someone noticed her talent. But why did they need to strip her of her pop sensibilities?
