Looking Back: The Four Seasons in Budapest

As of today, we've visited the UK, Spain, France, Belgium, Sweden, Russia, Italy, Germany, Austria, Greece, Portugal, Turkey, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. And of all the hotels in all of the cities, two stand out. No big surprise, both are Four Seasons. The Four Seasons in Istanbul at Sultanahmet truly helps to define your visit as it's a converted Turkish prison. And the Four Seasons Gresham's Palace in Budapest is a five story majestic masterpiece that has been painfully restored from it's glory days in 1904. Sure, it's expensive. But as I've told Chris, I'd rather pinch pennies elsewhere so we can stay in luxury while traveling. There's something to be said for looking forward to returning to your hotel, having the doorman remember your name, enjoying your American breakfast, working out in an expansive spa and sleeping on mattresses sent from heaven. Though, I do draw the line at spending $30 for a cosmopolitan in the Four Seasons bar.
