Obama's Revelation

I'm not here to preach one political party over the other. But, when one states the obvious, I have to make note of the revelation. Barack Obama this past week made a comment regarding American's lack of foreign language skills.

He said, "You know, it's embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe and all we can say is 'merci beaucoup!".

Living in Paris and now Munich for more than three years, I have to agree. And sadly, many Americans arrive on foreign soil expecting others to speak English rather than trying. So, Obama's comment, though manipulated by the press and opposing parties, rings true.
