The Housing Report

Later today, we meet with our architect/design firm to discuss the contractor bids we received on Friday. And now, because of our friend Steve's help this weekend, we feel a bit more empowered with knowledge. In short, the bids we have in hand are high. So, we'll be able to meet with the firm, discuss our concerns, tell them that we don't like the 42% higher number we received, and that the contractors need to go back and do some hard recalculating. Because in the meantime, we'll be contacting a third contractor for an additional bid. Even better, we now have gathered contacts for cabinetry and lower priced appliances so our O.P.C.I. (owner provided contractor installed) final tally is starting to come down. Good thing Chris likes to source a bargain. He's got a lot of work to do.
