Do you ever wonder why people on Facebook change their profile pics so often? Some do everyday. I understand the switch for special occasions. But do we need to see another shirtless photo of you at the gym just after you shot yourself in the ass with some testosterone?
When Obama was asked about gay marriage, he stated, "...it's a matter that should be decided by the states, not the federal government." I liked the comment Steve S made on the Yahoo story: "Not as long as the federal income tax code provides advantages to married couples." True Steve, true. I'm just sayin'.
A Quinnipiac Poll released Tuesday finds support for same-sex marriage in New York: "State voters support 54 – 40 percent a law allowing same-sex couples to marry, with voters under 35 supporting the measure 70 – 26 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday. Voters 35 to 64 years old also support the measure, while voters over 65 oppose it 57 – 37 percent."

I ran into a friend from long ago today. He said he meant to contact me because he had a funny story to share. 12 years ago, I stopped by his classroom dressed as Wally Warhead (the spokescharacter for Mega Warheads candy). I worked for the Foreign Candy Company at the time. I also read my children's book, Sue Snorter, to the kids.
Our 15th anniversary is set. We'll be seeing the new Transformers movie in 3D in the VIP section. Yes, one might say why? But it means something to us as we saw the first film while living in Europe. Strange to some. Boring perhaps. But good memories for us.
This weekend, the cameras were in full force for Pride weekend. But rather than pose, I hid. Why? Because those who take the photos don't know how to edit their postings to Facebook. So unlike before, if you took a bad picture, only a few saw the result. Now the world sees your closed eyes, bad hair, or surly smile.
Sitting at lunch today, someone uttered the phrase, "Mark my words." We then began discussing its origins - assuming it had something to do with an act of making notations, perhaps with a writing utensil, on an actual written phrase (i.e. on a piece of paper). We were close. Apparently, "mark" in this case means to write, hence "mark my words" means to write down an individuals words. This enables the written words to be referenced later on - proving the speaker correct.
The NY Senate passes the New York Marriage Equality Bill! Congratulations NY for doing the right thing! Wow. I'm shaking.
NY assembly introduced amendments to the Marriage Equality Bill. Why religion is playing a role in the acceptance of this bill is ludicrous. The two should not be connected as we're not a church state. So please NY Senators make the right decision to support equality as gays getting married is not threat to religious freedoms.

Holland, Michigan, just miles away from gay mecca Saugatuck and Douglas, VOTED this past week not to add sexual orientation and gender identity to its laws against discrimination. Don't they know how much gays and lesbians spend in Holland, MI on antiques, groceries and more? You can bet we won't be visiting Holland anytime soon. We'll spend the few extra dollars in Saugatuck for that loaf of bread and vintage wheel barrel.
It's amazing to me that the City of Chicago continues to be under appreciated on a global scale. Many we met in Europe had never been to Chicago - opting for NY, LA or Miami instead. Here's to showing the world a bit of what they're missing.
As I noted on Friday, while some of us were chilling at the movie theater and scrubbing walls with bleach, others we know were sitting front and center at the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show in Milan. If you'd like to see what we missed, check out the video below. I personally find the presentation a bit monotonous, but then again the D & G boys didn't ask me for my opinion. Perhaps one day they will.
For starters, why they cast Blake Lively in the movie I'll never know. She needs to stick with Gossip Girl - a movie actress she is not. Ryan Reynolds, on the other hand, makes you want to go to the cinema. If anything, just to see his hot body in a green suit. Otherwise, the special effects are engaging and probably the best part about the film - including the fight scenes. Do I prefer it over Thor? No. I did, however, leave feeling a bit like a superhero myself. I can't explain it, but the energy I felt driving home, weaving in and out of traffic, was a bit out-of-this-world.
Cracks me up that friends are having dinner with Dolce & Gabbana, I'm headed to see Ryan as the Green Lantern and Chris is preparing to scrub walls with bleach in Kansas. Such different lives we lead!

So Lady Gaga's video, Edge of Glory, just premiered on Fox's So You Think You Can Dance. Add oddly, it was rather simple. Did the Haus of Gaga decide to go understated to "make a statement?"
I'm not a fan of the shorts, but Hugh Jackman looks pumped as he leaves a gym in NYC. Why can't I see something as good leaving ours fitness center? Oh, that's right, we just have creepy timebombs waiting to explode.
New York State Senator Roy McDonald, just one of a handful of Republican Senators going against party lines, issued the following statement in his support of a gay marriage bill most likely seeing a vote on Friday:
I spotted a video from Scott Herman on someone's FB page today. The link took me to more on YouTube. I was amazed to see that his videos, some with shirt on, some with shirt off, have almost 200K views per video - which is great. I shouldn't be surprised however. He's cute and with a great body. Some call him the Craigery Morgan of fitness. One video even has over 2M! Again, he's shirtless, taking you through his chest workout, and grunting all the way. Great for him to capitalize not only on his looks but also those willing to pay $4.99 a month to be part of his club (scotthermanfitness.com). I'd like to see the demo breakdown of that website.
A revamped Superman goes for jeans vs. the tights. He'll eventually don the expected, but the red briefs will be replaced with a more contemporary all blue outfit. But for now, the denim and boots, not to mention the bulging muscles, are H-O-T.
Speaking of gay marriage, New York is just one vote shy of the 32 needed to pass the marriage equality bill. So please, if you live in NY, contact your State Senator. For a list, go HERE.
A federal judge did the right thing by refusing to invalidate last year's ruling against Proposition 8. Chief Judge James Ware of the U.S. District Court in San Francisco decided the gay jurist who overturned the same-sex marriage ban had no obligation to step aside because of a possible conflict of interest.
Just another case in point that you can't believe everything you see on the internet.
When my friend told me about his lunch time snack of cottage cheese and tuna, I almost threw up a bit in my mouth. After all, you have to admit, the combo sounds pretty gross. But after trying the mixture, I have to say it's not half bad. Not good. So now I'm all about grabbing the two for a quick lunch to ensure I'm filling up on protein throughout the day - especially after a Fat Sally Sunday.
While wondering around Andersonville's Midsommer festival tonight, we talked of steroids more than once. For example, within a crowd of 20 and 30 year olds (who seem to have personally christened themselves as the "A Crowd"), many of them are getting big - and quick. And because one shoots up, the others must as well. Talk about keeping up with the Joneses. But the most intense example would have to be a bartender's transformation from adorable hottie to bear daddy.
According to the American Family Association, when talking about Home Depot's support of the LGBT community, I'm in the "clasp of Satan." On the contrary, I'd say those who spit hate against the world are more engulfed. Thank you to Home Depot for standing behind your "diverse" clients.
I love the fact that this movie theatre is making an example out of a "texter." We need to all remember we live here with others and the world doesn't center around one person. More please.
Perhaps you're like me in that you can't watch NBC's The Voice because of Christina Aguilera. There's something about her that chaps my hide. Maybe it's her screeching when she talks. Or those hair extensions. In any case, I can't stomach the talent show. So instead, I turn to our DVR to catch-up on shows like Being Human. So much better than than three ring circus clown Christina.
I saw a TV ad for X Men: First Class tonight. The action sequences made the movie look incredible. After seeing it last night, the problem is everything in between. The sci-fi film seems flat - especially January Jones performance as Frost. I love her on AMC's Mad Men, but on the big screen she's quite the bore. Michael Fassbender, as Magneto, on the other hand, is quite engaging. One of the best reasons to see the film. He oozes appeal. So in the end, it's not horrible, but not great either.
I purchased a pair of Save Khaki shorts last year at Barney's. My faves of the season. So this year, I'm happy to report I found another pair - in a different color. Unfortunately, the Barney's store in Chicago, and online, don't have them in a size 30. So I called the NY store and they'll be shipped to me next week! When you find something you love...
Well, not really. I'd prefer the never in this case as the cottonwood tree in our backyard has finally decided to bloom. So, for the next two weeks, it will be snowing in our neighborhood. Please pray for rain and a strong Western wind to keep the white stuff off our house and lawn. I just look forward to the day when we can put our patio furniture out, and uncover our deck pit group, without cotton getting stuck in every nook and cranny.
It's always interesting going back to Kansas - especially when it comes to Midwestern hairdoos. Sure, who's to say one is better than the other (in terms of big city vs. small town), but something tells me these ladies should reconsider their look. Check out a woman I spotted next to us at Le Peep in Overland Park, KS. Her hair is teased so high a family of Robins could live it in comfortably. If I visited more often, I'd surely have to start a new blog.

I'm all for physical fitness, but when you get too lean, sometimes you don't look good (like the model pictured above who seems a bit scary). I've been told this a few times, including the phrase, "Eat a sandwich." So this year, I'm trying to keep on weight while I trim up for summer. It's not easy.
Dolce & Gabbana just announced Clemente Russo won the World Series of Boxing in Guiyang China. Apparently the fashion house sponsors the winner. I would too as he's frickin' hot in this photo (others I've seen, not so much, but this one is sexy).
